6th June 2024
The children from Sapphire Class, who gathered on 6th June on The Tye to mark the historic 80th anniversary operation of D-Day, were an absolute credit and represented our school to the highest standard. The children sang beautifully and presented themselves with impeccable manners and utmost respect throughout. We were inundated with compliments from villagers and the honourable guests who were there. The children met war veterans and army cadets, had close encounters with remotely controlled tanks and military vehicles, listened to wartime songs and even managed to visit the National Trust Clergy House. "I didn't realise how amazing we are at singing!" one child exclaimed. Another said, "I enjoyed seeing the army tanks and I learned lots about the past." It was a memorable occasion for the children so that they can understand and pass on this significant moment of our history to the next generation - we thank Sylvia Daw and the Alfriston community for inviting us.
