24th January 2024
After successfully qualifying at the Primary Schools Cross Country competition in November, seven of our Year 5 and 6 children, went to Lewes Rugby Club on 24th January to compete in the South Downs Area School Games Cross Country Finals. The races consisted of a 2km grass course which was muddy and wet in places. The children had been practicing over recent weeks with support from Mr Evans, one of our parents who is a runner himself, and on the day they all did extremely well having put in lots of effort. Children who came in the first 15 places in each race (Year 5 girls, Year 5 boys, Year 6 girls, Year 6 boys) will go on to represent the South Downs Area at the Sussex School Games Finals in March. We are delighted to say that we believe four of our children achieved this. Another example of Alfriston School being 'small, but mighty'!
